rutam.com v1 was created a week after Space station MIR got de-orbited. Sometime in March 2003. The inspiration just hit me to create something honoring everything; classic & vintage.. yet reflecting some connection to technology. As you can obviously see from the 'thrusters' & the controversial 'space-junk' elements :), this design came straight from space down into the designer's grunge toolkit. Grunge was big then, and it's something like the Jheri Curls & Psychedelic hairdos which were popular then, and a cause for mass parental embarrassment now ( same would've applied for bell-bottoms, had it not been for the sudden "flared boot-cuts" rage ). The essence of the matter is to explore and evolve with time ( wear flared jeans & sweep the roads as if you are the coolest person in town ).

If I can recall well, v1 was online for 4 years, hosted on Phat-space servers. The servers had to go, and a similar fate saw this design go down as well, sacrificed to the gods of design. All of my friends though wanted to see some of it.. so here it is, resurrected but inactive ..a snapshot of the design/intro. I've risked the wrath of the design gods so please be quick and move on!
